Jagex recently announced that RuneScape: Reborn is scheduled to launch on December 2. All Reborn characters will start at level 3 and adopt a brand-new economic system. This initiative aims to allow new players and veterans who haven't played for a while to enter the 25-year-old game world from a common starting point.
Jagex previously announced RuneScape: Reborn at RuneFest 2026, and further clarified the direction of adjustments on October 3. Reborn characters will share the same world with other players for joint activities; existing players do not need to abandon their original way of playing.
The rules outlined in the trailer also include no "Treasure Hunter" mechanics and no pay-to-progress elements. Jagex stated that this update prioritizes progression, challenge, community, and meaningful rewards, aiming to address issues where new players don't know where to start and returning veterans struggle to catch up with changes.
Upon the launch of RuneScape: Reborn, Reborn characters will have free access to member content for the first 10 days.
