Recently, at Gamescom 2026, Ralph Fulton, head of Playground Games, spoke to IGN. He stated that although Fable 4 has been delayed from its original Fall 2026 window to February 2027, the team feels "very good" about the new release date.
Fulton stated that the decision to delay was a logical one for everyone. October 2026 is already packed with major titles. Even shifting to February 23, 2027, the competition remains fierce. At that time, Fable 4 will go head-to-head with blockbusters like God of War: Laufey, Metro 2039, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. But they are not afraid of the competition.
Fulton said, "People always say the schedule for early next year is highly competitive, but we won't shy away from other AAA titles. Fable 4 is also a major title; we've set high standards and are ready to compete with any opponent. There is only one game we want to completely avoid."
Needless to say, the game they needed to avoid was GTA 6. Playground Games admitted that avoiding a clash with Rockstar's blockbuster was a key factor in prompting this release date adjustment.
