Gears of War: E-Day is now accessible to players who pre-ordered the Premium Edition. One player enabled NVIDIA DLSS 5 via a mod, reporting noticeable visual improvements, though frame rates were lower than when disabled. The game does not natively support DLSS 5.
The player first disabled the game's Easy Anti-Cheat, then used the Ultra+ Mod and specific launch files to enter the game, enabling DLSS 5 via RHI. He shared comparison screenshots before and after enabling DLSS 5, noting improvements in both character and environmental visuals. The game already boasts impressive graphics, and enabling DLSS 5 brought it closer to his expectations for next-generation gaming visuals.
The test setup included an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and NVIDIA RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 graphics cards, running on Windows 10 64-bit with Game Ready driver 617.14. According to the test results, enabling DLSS 5 without Multi-Frame Generation yielded 50 FPS. At 4K resolution, Ludicrous quality settings, DLSS Performance mode, and 4x Multi-Frame Generation, the frame rate with DLSS 5 enabled was 170–190 FPS, compared to 200–220 FPS when disabled.
The tester recommends that RTX 5090 users try this mod; RTX 5080 users may consider using it at 1440p resolution or lowering some quality settings to attempt 4K.
