The remastered version of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" reached 137,724 concurrent players on Steam, setting a new peak. The previous record of 123,359 players occurred during the release of the first season of Netflix's "The Witcher" series starring Henry Cavill.
The increase in concurrent players is linked to attention surrounding the updated version. However, owners of the original game can obtain the remastered version for free, so the peak concurrent player count cannot be directly converted into new purchases or sales revenue.
The remastered version was also on sale at the time, which may have attracted some players experiencing Geralt's adventures for the first time. There is currently no data indicating the proportion of new versus returning players.
As another reference for sales performance, the remastered version ranked 26th on Steam's weekly top sellers list. This new peak in concurrent players alone does not necessarily indicate a corresponding increase in sales volume.
