Rumor: GTA 6 PS5 Version May Require System Firmware 14.10.00 or Higher

Social media posts showing PlayStation Store backend information suggest that the PS5 version of "GTA6" may require system firmware version 14.10.00 or later. If this requirement is finalized, PS5 users on older firmware will need to update their systems to launch the game.

Some console jailbreak methods rely on specific older firmware versions, and system updates may temporarily prevent affected consoles from using these existing methods. There have already been reports of jailbreak progress for the 13.60 firmware released in July. Based on this, Tech4Gamers speculates that higher firmware requirements could reduce piracy risks during the initial launch period; however, this intended use has not been officially confirmed.

Currently, the version number 14.10.00 stems from social media reposts of backend information, and related reports have not provided direct statements from Rockstar Games or Sony regarding the firmware requirement or its rationale. It remains to be confirmed whether the official store page and the final release version will enforce this requirement.
