"World of Warcraft: Infinite" Brings Back Fan-Favorite Quest; Developers Moved to Tears

World of Warcraft: Classic focuses on recreating the 2004 original "Vanilla" experience, but there was one quest from 2007 that the player community had long urged Blizzard to make an exception for. Now, players' wishes have finally come true.

For those unfamiliar with the background, the "Kyle's Missing" quest was originally added to World of Warcraft in the 2007 "The Burning Crusade" expansion. The quest originated from a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a young player named Ezra "Ezephix" Chatterton, who was battling brain cancer at the time. Blizzard fulfilled his wish, allowing Chatterton to personally design the quest flow and voice the character. The quest involves helping his NPC character, Yaha Wispwhisker, find his lost beloved Dog.exe. It was a heartwarming and healing quest, but since World of Warcraft: Classic only includes content from the 2004 original version, "Kyle's Missing" had been absent from this new MMO until now.

Sadly, Chatterton lost his battle with illness in 2008. Nearly two decades later, his story is being remembered in World of Warcraft: Classic. Players on the Blizzard forums had long called for the addition of this quest, and earlier this week, a community manager confirmed that efforts were underway. Now, Johnny Cash, Lead Game Designer for World of Warcraft: Classic, has officially confirmed on Twitter that "Kyle's Missing" and Yaha Wispwhisker have been added to the game. This is a moving moment for the developers and everyone familiar with Chatterton's story.

"It is a great honor and privilege to bring 'Kyle's Missing!' into World of Warcraft: Classic," said Cash. "Ezra Chatterton was a devoted fan of World of Warcraft, the creator and voice actor for Yaha Wispwhisker, and the designer of the character Kyle."

"Friends, I shed tears while working on this. Rest in peace, Ezra."

If you want to experience the quest designed by Ezra and help find his Dog.exe, you can head to Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore to find the corresponding NPC—this is actually the starting area for Tauren players. If you haven't experienced this quest yet, I won't spoil the details, but you'll need your character to reach level 5 to accept it.
