Emulator and modding enthusiasts have managed to run the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV on a jailbroken PS5. The demo runs directly on PS5 hardware without relying on cloud gaming or streaming; however, frame rate and visual issues persist.
This unofficial project utilizes a specialized Xbox 360 emulator that mimics the PowerPC processor architecture used in seventh-generation consoles. Initial tests show that gameplay scripts, the Euphoria physics engine, and rendering of Liberty City's open-world environments are functional, marking progress beyond just displaying the startup screen.
The game is still some way from stable playability. Frame rates fluctuate depending on street congestion, vehicle count, and visual effect intensity, while shader processing can also cause graphical glitches. The driver layer and instruction translation system still require further improvement.
This demonstration is a community-driven emulation experiment on a modified console and should not be considered an official PS5 release of GTA IV, nor does it imply that standard retail consoles can run it. Rockstar Games and Sony currently offer no official PS5 remaster or support for the title, and the project has yet to provide a timeline for a stable release.
