Hideo Kojima Confirms OD Is Still in Development, with Post-Production Voice Acting Extending into 2027

Hideo Kojima confirmed that the horror game OD, which has seen little news since its announcement in 2023, is still in development. In the latest episode of his podcast "Koji10," he stated that he does not plan to reveal too much about the game for now, and that post-production voice work will continue until 2027.

Kojima said that a lack of news does not mean the team isn't working on the game. He hopes to keep more content under wraps until the game's release, which is why there have been fewer trailers this time. In the past, he would typically release trailers in succession, a practice that was unusual even for him. He did not provide a timeline for OD's next public showcase.

Discussing the actors' work, Kojima noted that the SAG-AFTRA strike in the United States, which lasted nearly a year, impacted the game's development. The team began filming in June of this year and plans to continue through the end of the year, with game development and filming proceeding simultaneously. He described the filming as going smoothly. During the strike, the team used stand-in actors to create temporary versions, and now they need to replace these temporary performances, which involves a significant amount of work.

Kojima also mentioned actor Udo Kier, who was originally set to appear in the game. Kier passed away last year at the age of 81. Kojima stated that Kier had been very excited about the project and had participated in a three-day scanning session alongside actress Hunter Schafer. He did not clarify whether Kier's completed work would be retained in the final game.
