DC Studios has announced that production on The Batman Part II will be paused, with director Matt Reeves temporarily stepping away from the set due to personal matters.
In a statement sent to media outlets including Deadline, the studio said: "Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused so that Matt Reeves can attend to family matters. DC Studios fully supports Matt and looks forward to continuing our creative journey soon."
The Batman Part II is scheduled for release on February 18, 2026. Sources at Deadline state that it is currently unclear whether this production halt will affect the planned release date. The film has already been delayed multiple times, having originally been slated for a 2025 release.
The Batman Part II had already entered production, as evidenced by the numerous set photos leaked recently. These images revealed details such as a battle-damaged Batmobile, a new Batsuit, and the suspected appearance of the Court of Owls. Despite the constant leaks from the set, official plot details remain scarce. Robert Pattinson described the film as a "subversive reinvention" of the Batman story.
Pattinson returns as Batman, joined by Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. New cast members include Sebastian Stan—widely speculated to be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face—as well as Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry.
