Unofficial GTA 5 Project Showcases Browser-Based Opening, Reportedly Taken Down

Grand Theft Auto V has sold over 230 million copies worldwide, making it one of the most significant games ever released. It has maintained strong momentum for 13 years. The title is available on nearly every platform except for a few like the Switch, and can now even be played in a web browser.

Recently, an unofficial Grand Theft Auto V project demonstrated the game's opening running in a web browser, but was later taken down by Rockstar Games and Take-Two. This approach allows players to experience the game without installing it fully on their PC as usual.

The demo footage reportedly runs at around 60 frames per second, though performance isn't consistently stable. The clip only shows the game's opening sequence and doesn't cover other parts of the full experience.

For an open-world game as massive as Grand Theft Auto V, it's impossible to determine from just the opening demo whether the full game can maintain the same performance in a browser.
