Following the release of the extended gameplay demo for GTA VI, online discussions emerged regarding the 30 FPS experience. Some players felt that the visuals were smoother than the 30 FPS games they were familiar with, even approaching the look of 60 FPS; however, the actual handling still awaits verification.
Rockstar has confirmed that the console version of GTA VI will target 30 FPS at launch. If higher frame rate modes are available, they will likely be released later. Players have discussed how frame pacing can affect visual perception: if frames are presented at nearly uniform intervals, sudden stutters may be less noticeable. Motion blur on moving objects can also make jumps between adjacent frames appear less obvious. These are explanations regarding visual perception, not measurements of the demo's frame rate or the final version's performance.
The viewing conditions of the demo itself can also affect judgment. The camera movement was relatively smooth, and viewers did not need to experience the delay between button inputs and on-screen feedback, so it is impossible to determine whether the actual gameplay will be equally smooth based solely on the footage.
Players also cited the 30 FPS experience in Red Dead Redemption 2 as a reference. Opinions varied: some were concerned about the control feel of past titles, while others believed that 30 FPS is more noticeable on OLED screens.
