Xbox Head Discusses Helix: Creating a Console-First Portable Gaming Device

Xbox head Asha Sharma stated that the tenth-generation hardware, codenamed Project Helix, will adopt a "device family" approach. The plan centers on consoles first, while also providing options for players on the go.

In internal meeting notes shared by Windows Central and cited by GamesRadar, Sharma explained that a single device cannot satisfy all players. Microsoft will produce devices it excels at in-house, while collaborating with partners to develop others; more details will be shared as plans progress.

Sharma also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the related operating system. The current statements do not cover device specifications, pricing, or release dates.

GamesRadar linked "on the go" gaming to portable devices like the Steam Deck, but this is merely media interpretation. The meeting notes did not confirm a Project Helix handheld, nor did they specify whether related devices can run games locally. The existing ROG Xbox Ally serves as context for Xbox's entry into the portable PC market.
