Developed by 5th Cell, the team behind the Scribblenauts series, Broke Wizard is scheduled for release on October 29. The game supports single-player and up to 6-player co-op: several wizards owe rent to their imp landlord and must take on jobs to earn money and keep paying, or risk being eaten by the landlord.
Players enter a destructible town, moving on magic skateboards and battling monsters. While working, they must avoid damaging the environment to prevent income deductions. Tasks include skateboard races, puzzles, hide-and-seek activities, and prop disguise gameplay; the game also features a Snake mini-game on in-game phones and scenes paying homage to titles like Minecraft.
After completing jobs and paying rent, players can obtain magic keys. Collecting all the keys grants ownership of the house and allows players to evict the imps.
Outside of work, players can watch videos together, play musical instruments, set off fireworks, or enter PvP arenas. Wizards' hats, hoodies, wings, and magic skateboards can be customized or collected, and players can also hatch pocket dragon pets with various appearances. A demo is currently available on Steam.
