Breaking news: Reports indicate that Xbox has secured exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6, meaning PC players will be able to play the game via cloud streaming on their PCs at launch.
According to The Verge, Xbox will be the exclusive platform for cloud streaming GTA 6 at launch. Xbox's cloud streaming is not limited to Xbox consoles; the service supports various devices, including PCs, smart TVs, and mobile devices.
According to reports, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma stated at a recent all-hands meeting that the company is planning a GTA 6-related initiative that "no other platform has."
Reportedly, this partnership will take effect when the game launches in November, though the exact duration remains unclear. If true, this means PC players will have the opportunity to enjoy GTA 6 on mobile devices via cloud streaming.
While it won't offer PC-specific performance options, mod support, or other unique features, this serves as a viable alternative for players who don't want to wait for an official PC port from Rockstar.
Microsoft has recently made significant adjustments to the duration Game Pass subscribers can stream games. According to The Verge, Microsoft will introduce a pay-per-use model in November. In theory, this will allow users without a console to access limited-time streaming of GTA 6.
IGN has contacted Rockstar Games and Xbox for comment on this matter. This deal is particularly noteworthy because The Verge previously reported that Xbox was concerned about pre-order numbers for GTA 6 on its platform. Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball denied these claims, pointing out that the game broke multiple records on Xbox, with sales figures aligning with Xbox's share of the console market.
PlayStation has also secured marketing rights for GTA 6, launching a limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controller. Rockstar Games promoted the title by stating that gameplay footage was captured in real-time on the PS5. The PS5 version will feature unique capabilities, leading Rockstar to emphasize that the game offers the "best experience" on PS5.
