The anime The Eccentric Physician of the Moonflower Kingdom recently revealed its first visuals, though no broadcast date has been confirmed. Adapted from the ongoing manga by Kakehi Nishimoe and produced by Studio Elle, the story revolves around court medicine and mysterious cases.
The story takes place in the Kingdom of Moonflower, where people have long relied on superstition and dubious remedies. While Prince Keiun searches for more reliable medical treatments, his companions fall victim to mysterious attacks. He then encounters Hu Ye, a young female healer, and witnesses her employ treatment methods he has never seen before. Their meeting will unravel plots involving medicine, political conspiracies, mysteries, and romance.
Due to its similar themes involving medicine, court settings, and mystery, ComicBook.com compared the new series to The Apothecary Diaries. At the time of the report, Season 3 of The Apothecary Diaries was airing weekly on Crunchyroll, with Maomao continuing to assist Jinshi in solving mysteries within the kingdom.
ComicBook.com suggests that fans of courtly medical dramas might want to keep an eye on this new series, while also noting that the target audiences and narrative atmospheres of the two works differ. Currently, no broadcast date has been announced for The Eccentric Physician of the Moonflower Kingdom.
