Hideo Kojima has confirmed that he will make cameo appearances in several major film and animation projects.
On the revived episode of the KOJI10 radio show, Hideo Kojima discussed his cameo experiences: he played Commissioner Watanuki in the Japanese crime drama Vivant, appearing without his signature beard, and voiced Officer Brandt the M.O.L.E in the Japanese dub of Zootopia 2. He remarked, “I’ve also filmed several other projects.”
“Many directors and industry professionals have invited me to appear. One is a major live-action film, and the other is a top-tier animated feature.”
In addition to this, Kojima, whose schedule is already packed with two upcoming titles—Physint and O.D.—revealed that he will also provide voice acting for another project and make a cameo appearance in an unannounced game.
Discussing these cameo side gigs, Kojima admitted, “I don’t like playing myself, but it keeps happening. I’d actually prefer to play a detective or something similar.”
On-screen performances are just a side gig; Kojima continues to lead the development of multiple games at Kojima Productions.
Physint has seen major changes in recent weeks: originally canceled on PlayStation, the title has now been picked up by Xbox. Reportedly a spy thriller comparable to the Metal Gear series and starring Bill Skarsgård, it was previously rumored to have faced issues with delivery timelines and budget. Kojima Productions subsequently issued a statement dismissing these reports as “unsubstantiated speculation.”
His other title, O.D., is under even tighter secrecy. In a later segment of the KOJI10 podcast, Hideo Kojima stated, “This time, I don’t want to reveal too much.”
