"Olympus 2249" is now available in Early Access on Steam. Developed by Dieselship Studio, this single-player turn-based CRPG features a top-down perspective set in a post-nuclear war United States with dieselpunk aesthetics. Players can engage in combat or explore solutions without firing a shot.
At the start of the game, players can choose their stance from five karma types. This choice affects how other characters react, dialogue options, available quests, and future opportunities; karma also shifts based on player actions, so your initial stance doesn't have to remain unchanged until the end. Dialogue and non-combat skills can also unlock new options, with certain statements potentially altering faction relationships or causing specific quests to no longer appear.
Mostly Positive reviews on Steam
Turn-based combat emphasizes positioning and environmental interaction. Players can kick fuel barrels toward enemies before detonating them, ignite leaking oil, or use electricity and traps; attacks can target different body parts, while special abilities consume stamina. The Early Access version also includes systems for crafting, stealth, sandstorms, contaminated areas, day-night cycles, and NPC daily routines.
The developers expect Early Access to last 18 to 24 months, planning to add locations, factions, quests, characters, and items for the full release, while adjusting balance and usability based on feedback.
