Disappointment! Microsoft Clarifies: GTA 6 Will Not Stream to PC via Xbox

When the console version of GTA 6 launches next month, PC players had hoped to play this game, but it seems they will likely be disappointed. Microsoft has clearly stated that GTA 6 will not be streamed to PC via Xbox Cloud Gaming. Previously, foreign media outlet The Verge reported that Xbox had secured exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6.

Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball clarified The Verge's report. Ball stated that the buzz surrounding GTA 6 and Xbox led to some inaccurate reporting.

His full statement reads: "While it is exciting to see everyone's enthusiasm for GTA 6 and Xbox, it has also led to some misinformation. We look forward to launching GTA 6 on Xbox on November 19, but the game will not be exclusive to Xbox streaming, nor will it be streamed to PC."

This means it is truly unfortunate for PC players.

The Verge's initial report stated that Microsoft had secured exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6, with insiders revealing Microsoft's plans. Previously, Xbox CEO Satya Nadella had told employees that Microsoft was preparing to do something with GTA 6 that "no other platform holder has done." The Verge indicated that this arrangement could be significant for PC players, who currently do not know when they will be able to play the game.

Rockstar has not yet announced a PC version of GTA 6, which is currently only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If streaming were adopted, PC players might be able to experience the game on its release day without having to wait for a dedicated GTA 6 PC version.

This chaotic situation arises at a rather delicate time for Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft will be making significant adjustments to the service in November, including the introduction of a pay-as-you-go option and changes to cloud gaming hours across different Game Pass tiers.
