Xbox Series and One System Update Improves Stability and Performance Only

Microsoft pushed the 10.0.26100 system update to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on October 7. The update notes only list general stability and performance improvements, without listing new system features, specific bug fixes, or applicable scenarios.

Previously, Microsoft introduced the disc-linked digital license feature in its September update. When players log into their accounts and play with supported Xbox One or Xbox Series X game discs, they can obtain a digital license associated with that disc and use digital services such as Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming (where supported). The original disc can still be used as usual.

Not all game discs support this feature. If you don't see a license confirmation message when launching a game, it could mean your account already has the license. If you lose, sell, or give away the relevant disc, you may lose access to that license; you would then need to possess the disc again and log in to play, or purchase the digital version separately.

Foreign media reports:

Microsoft has released version 10.0.26100 updates for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, which is a very small download package.

Given the major firmware patch in September (which introduced the highly anticipated disc-to-digital licensing feature), this October 7th patch is much smaller in scope, focusing primarily on stability rather than other aspects.

Xbox system update released on October 7, but nothing exciting

According to Microsoft, the patch notes only list general stability and performance improvements, and nothing else.

The highly anticipated disc-to-digital licensing feature launched in September, outlined as follows:

Xbox's disc-to-digital licensing is a brand-new way to make it easier for you to enjoy many disc-based games anytime, anywhere. With disc-to-digital licensing, you can experience the many benefits of digital games, including Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming (where supported), while your physical discs continue to work normally as before.

After logging in, you will receive a digital license when playing with any supported Xbox One or Xbox Series X game disc. If you do not see a confirmation message when launching the game, it means the disc is not supported, or you already have a digital license.

The disc-to-digital license is tied to eligible physical game discs. If you lose, sell, give away, or otherwise no longer possess the disc, you may lose that license. To regain the license, you need to retrieve the disc and play while logged into your account, or purchase a new digital copy from the Microsoft Store.
