Blizzard has announced direction for appearance adjustments to the new "Highborne" race in World of Warcraft: Classic, aiming to bring them closer to the visual style of early World of Warcraft. Previously, some players felt that the smoother, brighter design of the "Highborne" did not harmonize well with the older character models.
World of Warcraft: Classic aims to blend the aesthetics of the early game with new content. The "Highborne," a branch of High Elves, sparked discussion over their design, prompting Blizzard to promise a response to player feedback before the game's November launch. The development blog now outlines the planned adjustments.
With the high-definition character model setting enabled, the "Highborne" Druid forms will have reduced soft gradients and smoothness, giving feathers and fur more distinct lines and shapes. Blizzard hopes this will make the new designs align more closely with the visual style of the original game.
Players using the standard quality model will also see the new appearance, but these adjustments are expected to roll out early next year. The in-progress screenshots shown by Blizzard feature more pronounced low-polygon outlines, and the company stated it will continue to provide updates on model and Druid form progress; the final look remains subject to change until the official release.
