As Embark, the developer of Arc Raiders, adjusts its update schedule, it has accepted that player numbers may decline for a period. Executive Producer Aleksander Grøndal stated that the team hopes to release content packs on the scale of "Frozen Path" approximately every six months to re-engage players.
Prior to the "Frozen Path" update, Grøndal addressed discussions surrounding Steam concurrent player counts and daily active users. He mentioned that the team continuously monitors data and analyzes the challenges facing the game; while constant external focus on declining player numbers is naturally disheartening, the team had anticipated a potential temporary decrease in players when adjusting the update cadence.
Grøndal believes that sustaining a high volume of frequent updates is difficult, and the previous workflow left developers with little time to genuinely improve the game. The team aims to allocate longer cycles for testing, fixes, and reevaluation, focusing more energy on content quality.
He also stated that maintaining live game operations consumes significant production capacity, leaving insufficient resources to support the substantial updates the team wishes to create. Given Embark's limited scale, update schedules will be arranged according to its capabilities. Whether the new rhythm can attract players back remains to be seen based on the impact of future content.
