Paradox Interactive has announced Cities: Skylines - Expanded Edition, bringing the 2015 release of Cities: Skylines to Switch 2. This version is developed by Tantalus Media and is scheduled for release on October 28 at a price of $49; players who already own the original Switch version can enjoy a 70% discount.
The Expanded Edition includes 10 expansion packs, increasing buildable areas to 25 tiles. The new version also supports keyboard and mouse controls, and provides a map editor, more precise placement operations, and environmental controls.
In terms of graphics settings, players can choose a 30 FPS mode focused on visual quality, or a performance mode targeting 60 FPS. On October 28, three Content Creator Packs will also be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions.
As for the sequel, Cities: Skylines II, its console version has been delayed multiple times. The development team previously stated that this version had not yet met the stability and performance targets required for a console release. After Iceflake Studios took over development of the sequel in November 2025, they mentioned continuing work on the editor and console versions; however, there has been no new news regarding the console version since then.
