A new Ape Escape title may be in development, with rumors pointing to external studio Evening Star as the developer. The project has not been officially announced yet, and it remains uncertain whether it will be a remake or a brand-new game. It has been many years since the last Ape Escape release, though its characters previously made cameo appearances in Astro Bot.
Game journalist Jeff Gerstmann stated on the show that he heard others were also aware that a Ape Escape project was in development, but believed the game was still far from release. The information he received pointed to Evening Star as the development team, rather than Team Asobi, which some players had speculated.
Evening Star, co-founded by Christian Whitehead and others, is known for creating Penny's Big Breakaway. Gerstmann recalled that when he first heard about the project, it sounded like it had just been given the green light and was still in its early stages; he had also asked others about it during the DICE event in February of that year. He emphasized that this information has not been thoroughly corroborated by multiple sources. Currently, neither Sony nor Evening Star has officially confirmed the project.
