The "Frozen Path" update for Arcus Hunters introduces a new grappling hook, allowing players to climb buildings, swing between rooftops, and descend from heights using ropes. After playing for several hours, both PC Gamer and GameSpot focused heavily on this mobility tool, though their overall assessments of the update differed.
Unlike the original straight-line pulling tool, the new grappling hook allows ropes to change movement trajectories by leveraging anchor points. Both authors mention that climbing speed with it is roughly equivalent to using ladders. The PC Gamer author states that the grappling hook can attach to almost any surface and can be recast mid-air; however, retries are still necessary when the rope gets tangled on obstacles or when failing to grab the edge after reaching the top.
The GameSpot author highlights that the grappling hook has no cooldown or durability limits, recounting an experience of escaping enemy pursuit through a warehouse's rear window using the hook. "Frozen Path" also introduces launchers connecting two points, grenades that pull enemies, along with weapons, enemies, a reworked skill tree, and the snowy map Pendola Pass.
Regarding content beyond the grappling hook, the PC Gamer author believes the new skills currently offer more incremental enhancements. While the snowy map is visually appealing, exploration evokes a sense of familiarity with existing maps. The GameSpot author, however, considers this update substantial enough to provide a reason for both continuing play and returning to the game.
