"Teaching My Little Sister to Drive" is currently available as a demo on Steam. The developers stated that the number of demo players has increased twentyfold over the past month, resulting in AI API costs reaching approximately $1,000 per day.
In the game, players sit in the passenger seat and guide their "little sister," who has very little driving experience, via voice commands. She might even forget to turn the key; levels include scenarios like navigating minefield obstacles and being chased by large trucks. This interactive gameplay has also gained attention in streams and VTuber videos.
The developers mentioned that Gemini, the primary AI service used in the game, previously encountered usage limit errors. After switching to the backup OpenAI service, the team observed issues such as slower character responses, mechanical speech patterns, and misunderstandings of player instructions.
To keep the demo running, the team stated they have applied for a bank loan and are considering ending the demo early. The developers plan to factor the anticipated AI costs for the full version into the purchase price, with no additional AI usage fees charged to players after buying. The full release is scheduled for around January 2027.
