Famitsu Announces September 2026 Software Sales Chart: 'Fire Emblem: Threads of Fate' Tops with 153,000 Copies

Famitsu has announced the game software and hardware sales rankings for September 2026. The reporting period covers August 31, 2026, to September 27, 2026 (4 weeks). In the software chart, Fire Emblem: Threads of Fate topped the list with 153,000 copies sold for the month, while the cumulative sales of Rhythm Tengoku: Miracle Star surpassed 1 million copies. The latest entry in the series, Fire Emblem: Threads of Fate, competed for the top spot with Onimusha: Way of the Sword, while new releases such as Trails in the Sky the 2nd and Umamusume 2 also entered the upper ranks.

In terms of monthly software sales, #1 was Fire Emblem: Threads of Fate (Switch 2/Nintendo) with 153,859 copies; #2 was Onimusha: Way of the Sword (PS5/Capcom) with 110,087 copies; #3 was Rhythm Tengoku: Miracle Star (Switch/Nintendo) with 103,993 copies; #4 was Splatoon: Raiders (Switch 2/Nintendo) with 32,940 copies; and #5 was Friend Collection: Dream Life (Switch/Nintendo) with 32,448 copies. In terms of monthly publisher sales, Nintendo led with 453,000 copies, Capcom ranked second with 159,000 copies, and KONAMI ranked third with 67,000 copies.

In terms of monthly hardware sales, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold 119,161 units, remaining in first place; the three PlayStation 5 models combined sold 32,831 units, ranking second. In the September software rankings, the PS5 and Switch 2 versions of Onimusha: Way of the Sword combined for 142,000 copies sold, bringing its total close to the top spot. Sales of Rhythm Tengoku: Miracle Star have steadily increased since its release, with physical cumulative sales surpassing 1 million copies. Among other new releases, Umamusume 2 ranked seventh, Trails in the Sky the 2nd took eighth and ninth places, and Marvel's Wolverine entered the top ten. New releases from September occupied seven of the top ten spots, significantly changing the landscape of the rankings.

The October period will see the release of new titles in popular series such as Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and Final Fantasy: Resonance. As the year-end shopping season approaches and notable titles continue to launch, the home console market is expected to heat up further.
