First Chinese Brand Enters the VGT Hall of Fame, Securing the 36th Global Ticket

VGT (Vision Gran Turismo) is an iconic concept car project launched by the Gran Turismo series in 2013, inviting top global automakers to design exclusive concept supercars for the game, representing a benchmark for the fusion of automotive industrial design and virtual racing culture. Over the decade since its inception, top global automakers such as Bugatti, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, and Toyota have participated, launching a total of 50 VGT models.

As the 36th brand invited to join the VGT project, Xiaomi is not only the first Chinese brand to enter this ranks but also the first technology company to participate. In February 2026, the Xiaomi VGT made its global debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, officially unveiled by Li Tianyuan, Chief Designer of Xiaomi Auto, immediately drawing widespread attention from the global automotive industry and enthusiasts. This April, the real Xiaomi VGT car was showcased at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, becoming the focal point of the exhibit. From its MWC debut to the official announcement of its launch in the GT World Series, the Xiaomi VGT completed the full cycle from design release to in-game launch in less than a year.

Xiaomi Vision GT: Shaped by Wind, Perfectly Blending Aerodynamics and Design Aesthetics

The Xiaomi VGT is built around the core design philosophy of being "shaped by wind." The entire vehicle abandons deliberately sculpted edges and extra aerodynamic add-ons; the cabin shape resembles a suspended water droplet, with every surface optimized for aerodynamics and every structural component designed with airfoil cross-sections. Aerodynamic designs previously validated on mass-produced models like the Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7 are further enhanced in the VGT: the cross-shaped headlights serve a dual purpose of guiding airflow, while the halo taillights are innovatively integrated into part of the rear air duct. Combined with an active wake control system, the Xiaomi VGT achieves an aerodynamic efficiency value of 4.1 and a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.29.

Xiaomi also proposed the "Sofa Racer" driving philosophy, centered around a ring-shaped symbiotic cockpit that integrates the AI capabilities of Super Xiao Ai and the Xiaomi MiMo large model. It can actively perceive and identify the driver's intentions, seamlessly integrating into Xiaomi's "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem. Kazunori Yamauchi once evaluated the Xiaomi VGT: "The overall design maintains simplicity while showcasing an indescribable, extremely sexy curve beauty, making it a paradigm for this era."

Kazunori Yamauchi and Jean Discuss On-Site: Xiaomi Vision GT Performs Incredibly Smoothly in Game

Kazunori Yamauchi stated that since its real-car debut at MWC Barcelona and the Beijing Auto Show, the Xiaomi VGT has garnered strong attention from racing enthusiasts worldwide. Players' anticipation for driving this model in the game has become the core driving force behind accelerating the project.

Sharing his test drive experience, Jean described the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo as a future driver's car "shaped by wind," pursuing a perfect balance between drag and downforce. He noted that in the game, it maintains both high speed and exceptional stability, delivering an incredibly smooth overall performance.

Gran Turismo launches the first-ever electric vehicle driving tutorial in history, allowing global players to complete the training using the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and Xiaomi Vision GT

At the end of the discussion, both parties jointly announced that an electric vehicle driving tutorial will soon be available in GT7, where players can use the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and Xiaomi Vision GT to complete specialized training. As the first electric vehicle-specific driving content introduced in the 30-year history of the Gran Turismo series, the launch of this training marks Gran Turismo's full embrace of the electric vehicle era, with Xiaomi becoming one of the core brands driving this process. Tens of millions of racing enthusiasts worldwide will be able to more intuitively experience the technical prowess and driving charm of Chinese electric vehicles through the GT platform.
