The trial version of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort includes both new and returning sports, as well as Wuhu Island Sightseeing. While trial players initially worried that returning to Wuhu Island would merely be a graphical update, they found that the controls with the Joy-Con 2 and changes to the island brought fresh enjoyment.
In the table tennis event, trial players regained the familiar feeling of hitting the ball and subjectively felt that the motion response of the Joy-Con 2 was more sensitive than when using the Wii Remote in the past. The new arm-wrestling event requires players to seize the moment when their opponent exposes their thumb as an opening, or risk exposing their own thumb to charge up power. Trial players considered this sport to emphasize mutual probing between opponents.
Archery features a special rule: the target is divided into scoring zones of different colors. The leader's scoring area shrinks in the next round, giving those behind a chance to catch up.
Wuhu Island Sightseeing offers activities such as skateboarding, jet skiing, and propeller plane flights. Players can use various poses with the Joy-Con 2 to collect photos across an expanded Wuhu Island and its surrounding islands. Trial players also flew into the volcano and discovered that the internal caves are larger than in the previous game.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is scheduled for release on October 22, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2.
