The fan-made mod for the original Resident Evil 2, titled Resident Evil: Other Survivors, has made new progress. Creator ALSOP stated that the core gameplay has reached version 1.0, with the main storyline now playable from start to finish and most puzzles completed. The mod has not yet been officially released, as cutscenes and other content still need to be added.
The project shifts focus to other survivors of the Raccoon City incident. Key characters include Frank Williams, described as the last surviving member of the Raccoon City SWAT team, and Keith Dedman, former captain of the S.T.A.R.S. Delta Team. The story alternates between the main events of September 1998 and flashbacks to the Spencer Mansion in July of the same year, utilizing locations from both Resident Evil 2 and the original Resident Evil.
The two characters have different exploration setups: Keith's weapons and ammunition appear directly in rooms, while Frank must search for deceased officers' belongings or unlock SWAT vehicles. Keith's investigation begins with a radio message containing evidence of Umbrella Corporation activities, after which his path intersects with Frank and others.
Currently, both scenarios use Leon's data, though there are plans to create scenarios using Claire's data in the future. The project page still lists it as a comprehensive single-player overhaul mod, with the release date marked as TBD.
