GTA 6 vs. Forza Horizon 6 Undercarriage Comparison Sparks Debate: Racing Game Lacks Detail

A screenshot comparing car undercarriages circulating on Reddit has sparked discussion about the underbody visuals in Grand Theft Auto VI and Forza Horizon 6. According to the screenshot's description, the underside of vehicles in Grand Theft Auto VI reveals drive shafts, exhaust systems, and suspension components, while the corresponding areas in Forza Horizon 6 appear nearly as flat panels.

Some players have therefore joked that Forza Horizon 6, a car-themed game, actually shows fewer mechanical structures underneath its vehicles compared to the other title. The discussion also touches on the gameplay scenarios of both games: in Forza Horizon 6, vehicles do not remain overturned for long periods, as the physics engine tends to return them to a wheel-down position; whereas Grand Theft Auto VI, involving chases, collisions, and explosions, more frequently features scenes of overturned vehicles.

However, a flat underbody cannot be deemed as insufficient production detail based solely on screenshots. Many modern cars use aerodynamic panels to cover their undercarriages, so specific car models and visual conditions must be considered when comparing the two images. These explanations regarding gameplay and undercarriage design are also not official statements from the development teams of either game.

The discussion also extends to the limitations on vehicle damage in racing games and how this design might affect some players' perception of road and off-road routes. Currently, what this screenshot can show is the difference in undercarriage appearance between two cars in a specific scene.
