Mat Piscatella, Senior Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana, shared this data on Bluesky, stating that the title ranked behind Fortnite, Roblox, and NBA 2K27. Piscatella also noted that Xbox players spent an average of over 200 minutes playing Gears of War: E-Day on launch day.

The game launched on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass. Developed by The Coalition, it is a prequel to the original Gears of War, taking players back to "Emergence Day," 14 years before the events of the 2006 original.

Gears of War: E-Day tells the story of a young Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the Locust Horde's invasion of humanity. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game returns to the series' third-person cover-shooter roots while leaning into the darker atmosphere of the earlier titles.

Piscatella's data only covers player engagement on Xbox for October 6, so it does not fully reflect the game's performance on PC or Game Pass.
