Recently, foreign media outlet IGN released an interview with Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, revealing numerous previously undisclosed gameplay details about GTA 6. The game may include more explicit adult content, including sex scenes.
Romantic and intimate content between Jason and Lucia is entirely optional; players are not forced to experience it, and it offers no combat or gameplay bonuses, though it may influence certain narrative cutscenes. Building their relationship isn't limited to main missions: the duo can play pool, mini-golf, go diving, or stroll along the beach; committing heists together also strengthens their bond.
Characters will send text messages to each other; ignoring messages for extended periods will slightly lower affinity. Good relationships can trigger interactions like holding hands. Even if the romantic relationship is cold, they remain criminal partners, and the main storyline will proceed normally. The character not currently being controlled has independent daily behavior logic; when switching characters, you might catch Jason in everyday situations, such as taking a shower.
Nelson mentioned that the Rockstar team meticulously polished the intimate scenes between the two protagonists, striving for natural and authentic performances. They also learned from past mistakes, avoiding controversial content similar to the "Hot Coffee" incident and steering clear of gimmicky mini-game designs.
Nelson stated: "We didn't want to perform poorly in this area. The chemistry between these characters feels very natural—truly natural. It's great for anyone who wants to experience their relationship through role-playing. Many people on the team have resonated with these characters. However, physical intimacy is a crucial part of romantic relationships, so it had to be done right. Like Everythinggj else we do, we constantly tried various approaches and iterated until we found the right feel. We are absolutely committed to moving in the right direction."
GTA 6 will be released on November 19, launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
