Xbox Establishes New XP Division Dedicated to Film and TV Adaptations of Its IPs

Xbox's new CEO, Sharma, has established a new division called XP to advance first-party IPs, expanding them into areas such as TV series and films.

The newly established XP division aims to expand Xbox's IPs into more entertainment and consumer product sectors. Consequently, the department's scope covers products, imagery, partnerships, and venues.

It is interesting that Kayleen Walters, a developer from Mojang (the studio behind Minecraft), has been appointed as President of the XP division, given her over ten years of experience collaborating with Lucasfilm on Star Wars projects.

According to Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matt Booty, the company's ultimate goal is to become a global leader in the entertainment industry. Specifically, Xbox hopes to replicate the success of recent adaptations like Fallout with other IPs, such as Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Halo.

With the immense potential demonstrated by recent adaptations like Sonic, Mario, and The Last of Us, Xbox's initiatives in this area will be worth watching closely. Perhaps, with the right push, the gaming giant can revitalize those long-dormant IPs.
