Recently, the narrative adventure game OPUS: Echoes of the Mountain, developed by Sigono, has been officially nominated for three awards at the gamescom award 2026, including "Best Impact Game," "Best Cozy Game," and "Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game."
The gamescom award is an annual gaming award hosted by gamescom, one of the largest gaming conventions in the world. Each year, outstanding games across multiple categories are selected from the exhibited titles, making it one of the most anticipated awards during the event.
In this nomination list, OPUS: Echoes of the Mountain will compete alongside many well-known titles such as Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Metro 2039, Alien: Isolation 2, Mega Man: Double Overload, Genshin Impact, and Zenless Zone Zero.
As the latest entry in the OPUS series, OPUS: Echoes of the Mountain continues the series' exploration of emotions and the relationship between humans and nature. Through its unique narrative style and hand-drawn art, it leads players on a journey set amidst misty mountains and forests.
About OPUS: Echoes of the Mountain:
OPUS: Echoes of the Mountain is a fairy tale for adults. It tells not only a story of return, but also how one person confronts their own life through the lens.
Players take on the role of Yujin, a forty-year-old photographer. After losing his job, family, and direction in life, he becomes lost in the "Forgotten Land," a place devoid of people, while returning home. There, he meets a girl who has lost her memory, as well as a group of deities gradually being forgotten by the world. To find his way home, Yujin must pick up his camera again to document the forgotten landscapes, missed moments, and the past he has been unwilling to face.
See the world anew through the lens
Photography is not only a puzzle-solving tool, but also Yujin's way of confronting his past. Adjust composition, exposure, focus, and filters to capture the landscapes, deities, and fragments of memory in the Forgotten Land. The deeper you observe this world, the closer you get to the answers hidden within.
A magical realist world of nostalgia
The Forgotten Land is both familiar and strange, resembling reality yet devoid of human traces; like a fairy tale, yet reflecting real life. Abandoned stations, old factories, mountain villages, and talking animal deities come together to form a fantastical world filled with nostalgia.
A journey of encounters and memories
The amnesiac girl only remembers that she must travel to a distant mountain. As Yujin journeys with her, he will gradually change his perspective on the world and rediscover his own answers.
Uncover the secrets behind the deities and the Forgotten Land
Through the Divine Furnace, research notes, and clues scattered throughout the world, players will gradually piece together the connections between the deities, the Forgotten Land, and Yujin's past. Observe each character carefully, and you may discover more hidden stories.
Currently, players can visit the official gamescom award page to cast their votes for their supported titles.
Voting opens on August 26
At that time, the OPUS: Echoes of the Mountain team will also attend gamescom 2026 in Cologne to meet players from around the world. For more information about the event and future updates, please stay tuned to official announcements.
