The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Switch 2 Version Faces Backlash Over Graphics; Developer Confirms Quality-of-Life Patch in Development

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it is developing a patch for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, aiming to improve image clarity and sharpness. Previously, some players expressed dissatisfaction with the visual quality after the release of the first gameplay footage for this version. In an official statement, CDPR stated that this update aims to "narrow the gap between platform versions," synchronizing the Switch 2 version with global adjustments already implemented on other platforms, while also providing exclusive optimizations tailored to the Switch 2's hardware capabilities.

Visual adjustments are only part of this update. The developer has not yet announced other specific changes or provided a release date for the patch. According to CDPR Community Director Marcin Momot, the team is addressing bloom rendering issues across all platforms and hopes to include these fixes in the next version update. Quest Designer Pawel Sasko also posted that the team is closely gathering player feedback and that related fixes are underway. The patch still needs to go through Nintendo's certification process, and given the massive volume of bug reports currently being received by the development team, the update is expected to take at least several more weeks to launch.

The extent to which the patch will ultimately improve visuals remains to be seen once the update is live. There are currently no before-and-after visual comparisons or performance data available. However, based on technical specifications, the Switch 2 version runs at 720p in handheld mode and 1080p in docked mode, with a frame rate target between 30 and 40 fps and support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). Some players have reported blurriness in handheld mode, and how much improvement CDPR's promised clarity boost will actually deliver may only become clear after the patch is officially released.
