"Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Kaidan" New Gameplay Demo Reveals Comprehensive Overhaul of the Cursed Sword System

Recently, Japanese media outlet Famitsu attended a media preview event hosted by Vanillaware, where they played Muramasa Rebirth: Kaidan and recorded a 10-minute gameplay demo video. Let's take a look at the video!

Gameplay Demo:

The Demon Blade system in Muramasa Rebirth: Kaidan has undergone a complete overhaul. In the original game, Secret Techniques were tied to specific Demon Blades, meaning players had to equip the corresponding blade to use a particular technique. In the new title, players learn Secret Techniques by using Demon Blades. Up to six Secret Techniques can be equipped simultaneously—three for ground combat and three for aerial combat—allowing for flexible skill combinations and diverse fighting styles.

Additionally, the Demon Blades themselves now feature an enhancement system. Players can improve weapon attributes such as attack power, while Secret Techniques can be strengthened by consuming "Vitality" obtained through cooking. These changes add more RPG-style progression to what was originally a system focused on collecting and swapping Demon Blades, giving previously weaker or less practical blades and Secret Techniques greater value for further development.

Muramasa Rebirth: Kaidan also features HD visuals and includes content such as the short story collection Genroku Kaidan. The game is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Steam on February 4, 2027, with Chinese language support.
