The farm simulation genre has matured significantly. From "Harvest Moon" to "Stardew Valley," farming, gathering, fishing, cooking, plus a cozy town where you can build bonds and manage businesses—this established simulation routine has long become a comfort zone familiar to farming game players.
Recently, the domestic indie team Tapupu Studio brought us a new title called "Chronicles of the Wind: Dragon Port Restaurant." It also centers on farm management but swaps the ground beneath your feet for a bold setting: your entire pastoral life is settled on the back of an ancient sea dragon.

From clearing wasteland, reclaiming farmland, and planting crops, to processing harvests into ingredients for the restaurant; from the 18 distinctive residents in town to daily chats, gift-giving, and interactions; to leaving town to gather, fish, and explore caves in unknown areas... While these gameplay elements may sound familiar, adding the premise of "developing deep relationships with 8 beautiful/handsome romanceable characters" makes the game interesting.
After all, who can resist settling down, farming, and falling in love with a beautiful woman or handsome man?
The loli in the middle is not a romanceable character; more characters are in development
This sea dragon is by no means just "mobile real estate." It once suffered severe injuries. As players help it regain vitality through day-to-day farming and healing, a lost history intertwining humans, deep-sea races, and ancient beasts will be peeled back layer by layer.
As for what life tastes like in this world where the giant beast's SPINE - This is Gun Fu intertwines with the boundless sea? It all starts with that initial patch of wasteland.
Want to be the boss on the sea dragon's back? Start by digging!
Of course, "Chronicles of the Wind" doesn't intend for you to become an "agricultural tycoon" right away. The land on the sea dragon's back still needs tending, requiring you to pull weeds and break ground by hand before you can start farming.
The game doesn't set overly complicated barriers for basic farming. Planting, watering, and harvesting are easy to pick up. As you accumulate experience in farming and processing, your character will gradually unlock skill trees and gain new abilities, expanding the dimensions of management you can access.
Then, as your farm expands and crop varieties increase, these harvested products will naturally move to the next stage, becoming essential high-quality ingredients for your own restaurant.
You could say that every hard-earned plot of farmland paves the way for subsequent gameplay. As your fields expand and your skills improve, once the first wave of crops is happily harvested, your little restaurant will be ready to open for business!
Serve what you grow in your own restaurant
Once the farm gets busy, it's time for the kitchen to step up.
In "Chronicles of the Wind," harvested crops can first be processed into semi-finished goods, then further crafted into signature dishes for the table. As you accumulate experience in daily activities like planting, fishing, and cooking, you can gain XP, unlock skill trees, and open up new production methods and recipes.
What you harvest from the fields today and what dishes you can prepare will naturally affect your daily schedule. Although the farm and restaurant operate on separate mechanics, they don't feel disjointed in actual gameplay.
Meet 18 residents, and perhaps encounter that special someone
Beyond the production cycle of the farm and restaurant, there is also a town on the sea dragon's back, forming another piece of the daily experience puzzle.
At least 18 residents live in the town. Each maintains their own life trajectory; some run shops, some care for families, and others hold old stories about the sea dragon, the ocean, and the past of this海域 (sea area).
The game's social mechanics are straightforward. Chatting briefly when passing by and giving gifts tailored to their preferences will slowly bring you closer. Starting from polite acquaintances, relationships deepen until people are willing to share their thoughts with you and even invite you to participate in important moments of their lives.
Within the town's social network, 8 characters have deeper emotional development branches available.
Players familiar with management games will recognize this loop. After finishing farming and cooking, greeting townsfolk and building rapport is also an indispensable part of daily life.
Care for this ancient sea dragon and uncover a forgotten's history
Beyond regular daily management, the sea dragon that carries the entire town is also a core thread running throughout the game.
This ancient sea dragon was once injured, and players need to help it gradually recover. As your farm and restaurant develop, you will gain power from nature and the ocean to help restore the sea dragon's health.
And as you care for it, stories about this ocean will gradually come to light.
What connections once existed between humans, deep-sea races, and ancient sea dragons? What has this ancient sea dragon experienced? These things won't be laid out directly in front of you but will be gradually uncovered as the game progresses.
Beyond the town lies a larger world
Of course, farm life isn't just about tending to your few acres all day long.
Aside from management, there are many mysterious wild areas scattered outside the town.
When you want a change of pace, you can always pack your bags and leave town to mine, fish, or explore unknown caves. The precious resources gathered along the way can not only be brought home to enrich your production lines, but as you delve deeper, the unsolved mysteries hidden in the depths of this world will also gradually reveal themselves.
Finally, "Chronicles of the Wind: Dragon Port Restaurant" is still in development. More content related to farm management, town life, and the sea dragon will be revealed in the future.
