The cinematic narrative first-person psychological horror game JIAOHUN was globally unveiled for the first time at the 3i Showcase on October 8. Players will return to "Baishui County, Xiannv Town" to gradually uncover the mystery behind the town's end. The game is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5.
Story Background
"Baishui County, Xiannv Town"—an obscure little place struggling to survive in the cracks of the times. Facing the wave of the new century, Xiannv Town once actively sought change, but all its struggles ended in failure.
Every household's calendar is stuck on the eve of the new millennium, and the banner "Welcome the New Century" has not yet been taken down. You have returned here to face its demise.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, JIAOHUN is built on a cinematic narrative framework, combining full first-person performance, cinematic camera language, and immersive sound design to create an immersive psychological horror experience. The game visuals switch between 4:3 and 2.39:1 aspect ratios, presenting a unique film and VHS tape texture, making players feel as if they are immersed in end-of-century footage sealed within an old television.
JIAOHUN blends puzzle-solving with walking simulation, emphasizing atmospheric storytelling and environmental exploration—peeling residential buildings, creaking wooden doors, and the faint sound of rain at the end of alleys allow fear to quietly spread within familiar daily life. Brick houses, tube-shaped apartment buildings, cinemas, and small shops, along with banners reading "Welcome the New Century," jointly recreate a Chinese small town on the eve of the millennium.
The development team is dedicated to finding horror in local Chinese life and memories of the era, using "obsession" as the core theme throughout JIAOHUN. The game focuses on the confusion and struggle people faced amidst the changes at the turn of the century. As desires gradually push people to extremes, obsession turns into inner demons, ultimately consuming the townspeople.
