Unofficial Native PC Port of Metroid Prime Emerges, Supporting Keyboard and Mouse with Save Anywhere

An unofficial native PC port of Metroid Prime has been released. It preserves the original game content while adding features such as keyboard and mouse controls, widescreen display, and save-anywhere functionality. The game was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002.

The graphics settings support 4:3, 16:9, and windowed widescreen displays. Players can also adjust the field of view, MSAA anti-aliasing, and anisotropic filtering. The port retains the original 60Hz game logic while removing the frame rate cap.

In terms of controls, keyboard and mouse bindings can be remapped, and sensitivity, aim inversion, and gyro aiming can be adjusted. The port also supports skipping cutscenes, includes a speedrun timer compatible with LiveSplit, and offers item, scan, and map tracking features.

Additionally, the port supports mods, custom textures, HD texture packs, randomization features, and GameCube save file migration. The project is currently in beta and may contain bugs; the port does not include the original game assets, so players must provide their own ROM to run it.
