The investigation into the massive leak of "GTA 6" by the hacker group Cyberleak is heating up. Reddit user PilotX1970 had previously claimed that "GTA 6" would be leaked on August 18th. Due to these statements, he has become a key person of interest for both the police and Rockstar Games.
Now, he has responded on social media, stating, "I just guessed," and posted on Reddit titled "I did not know August 18th," claiming he merely picked a random date to "stir up the community," never expecting it would cause such a huge trouble for himself. In his post on the r/GTA6 subreddit, he wrote: "I just randomly chose a day to add fuel to the fire, guessing that Tuesday, August 18th, would be a good day to release the second trailer since it falls roughly in the middle..."
However, after investigation, various details suggest it was more than just a coincidence. Analysis of the user's activity reveals that PilotX1970 publicly named his source: a YouTuber named "Larry." According to him, Larry is someone he knows privately and is working with Rockstar Games on a project under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Notably, this same Larry had already made a statement regarding the matter in May 2026, with content entirely consistent with what PilotX1970 said.
Currently, videos posted on PilotX1970's page show two Scottish police officers approaching him and having him speak with two representatives from Rockstar Games in New York. From the footage, it appears they didn't believe he had simply guessed the date. Netizens have also raised no doubts about the video's authenticity; the user's nervous voice and the police officers' realistic speech do not sound AI-generated or fabricated.
