In Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Awakening, players must appraise relics and loot obtained in Norven before they can be used. These items add to your carry weight, so after accumulating a batch of hauls during exploration, you can return to the Norven settlement to process them.
Relics or loot can be obtained by defeating enemies, gathering at collection points, and opening chests. After returning to the settlement, players can find Jiera and pay a small amount of Rift Crystals to appraise them and see the rewards inside.
The stats of appraised equipment are random; items brought back from the same expedition might yield the strongest armor currently available or prove less helpful. For players who haven't yet obtained rare gear from the Uncovered Ruins in Vermund, equipment from relics can be particularly valuable; since enemies in Norven are tougher, higher armor stats aid survival.
Appraisal rewards may also include Norven Gold Coins, healing items, gold, and rare scrolls. Whether relics yield useful equipment still depends on the appraisal results.
