Team17's classic series makes a triumphant return! More prisons, more weapons to craft and steal, and even more absurd escape methods—did someone mention pogo sticks?
Team17 has officially announced The Escapists 3, the latest installment in the award-winning prison sandbox series. The game is scheduled for release on PC and consoles in 2027.
Announced at the Triple-I Showcase, The Escapists 3 brings back the classic experience fans know and love, now with brand-new 3D visuals. Players will explore more prisons, scavenge and craft more weapons, and attempt all sorts of unexpected and absurd ways to break free.
Breaking out is never easy. To escape from five vastly different prisons, inmates must craft tools, sneak around, engage in combat, and adapt their perfect plans on the fly—then execute a far less perfect backup plan when things go completely wrong.
The game features over 120 stealable and craftable weapons. Players must observe and master guard patrol patterns, study the interconnected systems within the prison, and find every possible way to exploit their loopholes.
There's no single right answer to each escape. There are good plans, bad plans, and occasionally plans that involve melting chocolate.

The Escapists 3 also lets you team up with friends to break out. Combine your strengths, cover each other's weaknesses, and pull off the perfect escape—or suffer a hilariously spectacular failure.
The game supports two-player local split-screen co-op, as well as online multiplayer for up to four players.
As a new system in The Escapists 3, inmates will gain experience during gameplay, unlocking new skills and gameplay options. Players can specialize their characters in specific areas based on their preferred escape methods, and progress carries over across different prisons.
