Antstream, known for its classic game cloud streaming service, has launched a new platform called Slice. Slice focuses on generating short games from a single prompt and promotes these works as available for others to play, adapt, and monetize.
Slice positions itself as an AI-driven platform for short-form competitive games. Its website states that the platform aims to cover various game genres and screens, and proposes using licensed intellectual property in generated content. The platform also targets IP holders in fields such as film, television, and music, hoping that short-form competitive content can be used to promote original works.
Technologically, Slice is based on the Google Gemini framework. Antstream emphasizes that the company has years of user behavior data, cross-device cloud delivery capabilities, and cooperative channels for licensed game intellectual property. Key members listed on the Slice website include Antstream CEO Steve Cottam and Head of Technology Oliver Woods.
Time Extension authors have criticized generative AI training materials, creator labor, and the increase in low-quality content. One of the backgrounds for their focus on Antstream's move is that a title previously involved with Antstream was delisted due to the use of generative AI assets.
