Raashi Sikka, who has been with Ubisoft for five years, has announced that she will assume the role of Chief AI Empowerment Officer. She previously oversaw diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and social impact initiatives. This change in role comes as Ubisoft advances its generative AI project, Motherbrain.
Sikka stated that AI will transform technology, culture, society, and the way we work. She aims to help the company and its teams prepare to face these changes with greater confidence, while also focusing on their impact on people.
Ubisoft recently announced internally that Motherbrain will operate as a global entity covering the entire company. On October 7, Ubisoft introduced employees to the project's new positioning: a dedicated team focused on turning generative AI into tangible gaming experiences.
Regarding the role of generative AI in development, Ubisoft's management positions it as a creative tool rather than a replacement for writers, designers, or actors. Xavier Manzanares, General Manager of Motherbrain, cited examples such as using the technology in some games for conversational characters, teammates that adapt to player strategies, or autonomously functioning worlds. In other titles, it might be used to enhance character behavior, guide new players, or improve accessibility. The company expects that all teams will explore Motherbrain and generative AI in the future.
