"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" Console Version Can Use Hood Mods, But Achievements Will Be Disabled

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S remastered versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt now support the "Hoods" appearance mod, allowing Geralt to equip accessories like hoods and cloaks. However, installing mods on consoles will disable achievements.

"Hoods," created by ArdCarraigh, also offers accessories such as hats, scarves, and masks. Players can first use dyes in their inventory and then apply the colors to the desired items; the hood's raised or lowered state is also toggled in the inventory. Early in the game, players can obtain some accessories from Bram in White Orchard and install the mod through a new in-game menu.

Geralt's cloaked appearance was featured in the "Killing Monsters" trailer. PC players had previously been able to achieve a similar look through mods, with the "Geralt Cloak" mod released in 2017 surpassing one million downloads. "Hoods" was released on August 9, 2025; it has accumulated over 82,000 downloads, with a 99% positive user rating.

The mod currently still has usage issues: Geralt's weapons on his back may sometimes clip through the cloak, and switching to the hood-down state may cause the game to crash. Console players who wish to use it to recreate the trailer look in cutscenes or Photo Mode should also keep in mind the achievement disablement restriction.
