The development team behind "Join Us" introduced the gameplay plans for this cult-themed sandbox game: it supports up to four-player co-op, with plans to offer around 75 to 100 "doctrines" at launch, and a main story development target of approximately 15 hours. Joe Dietsch, CEO and Creative Director of Wolf Haus Games, stated that the team aimed to translate this theme into concrete game mechanics while establishing an absurdly humorous tone for the title.
Different doctrines affect how players approach the game. Dietsch stated that cannibalism was the first doctrine the team created, followed by the ability to ride animals, allowing players to mount deer and bears.
Recruitment is also part of the game. Players can try to recruit all civilians or even enlist enemies, but the difficulty varies depending on who you're recruiting, with some methods tied to combat. In co-op mode, up to four players share the same building menu and tools; the team hopes players will coordinate their doctrine choices themselves.
Dietsch mentioned that the studio currently has 13 members, with in-game dialogue written and voiced by real people, and interface images hand-drawn by the team. In addition to a main story targeting around 15 hours, the team estimates over 30 hours for side quests and other tasks, and the game also features a sandbox mode. The team plans to continue updating the game after its scheduled March 2027 release, with future content informed by community feedback.
