Arion Kurtaj, accused of involvement in the 2022 leak of Grand Theft Auto VI materials, is set to stand trial at Woolwich Crown Court on November 9. According to information posted by Red Lion Chambers on LinkedIn, he has been assessed as fit to plead after receiving approximately two years of hospital treatment.
The 2022 breach resulted in around 90 unfinished gameplay clips appearing online, including early versions of Vice City, protagonists Jason and Lucia, and other incomplete assets such as development tools. Rockstar later confirmed that an unauthorized third party had accessed its systems and stated that it did not expect the incident to have a long-term impact on development progress.
Kurtaj was deemed unfit to plead in 2023. At that time, the jury deliberated on whether he had committed the acts in question, rather than determining criminal liability in the usual manner. The case subsequently went through an appeals process; the court ruled that evidence related to six earlier hacking offenses should not have been admitted, but upheld the jury's original findings.
Another batch of allegedly leaked footage comes from a different source and has no known connection to Kurtaj. The trial scheduled for November 9 is just ten days before the listed November 19 release date for GTA 6.
