A 2010 Pokémon Zorua promotional card sold for $156,000 in a Fanatics Collect auction that ended on September 27. It features the winning artwork from the preschool division of that year's Zorua design contest, which was held as a promotional event for the release of the movie "Pokémon—Zoroark: Master of Illusions."
The card's artwork was drawn by Mayu Taniguchi, who was six years old at the time, depicting Zorua and Pikachu riding a bus. This contest-winning illustration was printed on promotional cards and later became an auction item years afterward.
It is said that approximately 100 copies of this preschool division winner's version were printed, with winners receiving a small batch of cards featuring their own artwork. There are also rumors in the collecting community about a small number of cards being privately reprinted and circulated, but it is currently impossible to determine whether the card sold in this auction belongs to the original batch distributed to winners or the rumored extra batch. The card's excellent condition is also considered one of the reasons it attracted bidding attention.
