Four variant covers have been revealed for the five-issue limited series Star Wars/Marvel: Assemble Hope, including one featuring Darth Vader wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. This series will mark the first official crossover between Star Wars characters and Marvel superheroes within a story.
Marvel has been publishing Star Wars comics since 1977, but the characters from both franchises have never officially crossed over in a story before. Star Wars/Marvel: Assemble Hope, written by Kevin Smith and illustrated by David Marquez, is scheduled for monthly release starting January 2027, with the final issue set for May.
Marvel had previously announced a set of five connected covers illustrated by David Marquez. Among the newly released variant covers, Rafael Albuquerque depicts Darth Vader donning the Infinity Gauntlet, while Alex Ross features Spider-Man alongside Luke Skywalker wielding a lightsaber. The other two variants showcase Darth Vader with Doctor Doom, and Professor X with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
According to the story synopsis, a reality-shattering spell will allow Marvel heroes on Earth to witness the events of the original Star Wars film. The new covers showcase cross-franchise character pairings, though whether all of them will appear in the main storyline remains to be seen in the comic itself.
