Certification documents from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission dated October 8 listed a Nintendo Switch 2-related device with the model number "BEE-001(-01)." This numbering matches the revised model for the replaceable-battery console in Europe, but Nintendo has not yet announced plans to release this version in the United States.
The current model number for the Switch 2 console is "BEE-001." Nintendo previously announced that, to comply with new European battery regulations, it would gradually transition to versions of the Switch 2 console and certain controllers sold in the region that feature user-replaceable batteries. This announcement applies only to regions operated by Nintendo of Europe.
Regarding controllers, data from Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications shows that the design certification for the Switch 2 GameCube controller "BEE-021" was modified on September 10, adding "BEE-021(-01)" to the model lineup. A new number with the "(-01)" suffix also appeared in Canadian certification documents for the Nintendo 64 controller for Switch.
These suffixes resemble the format used for revised console models, but the specific changes to the controllers cannot be confirmed based on the numbers alone. The replaceable-battery versions of both controllers are expected to launch in Europe by early 2027. Nintendo has not yet announced plans to release a replaceable-battery version of the Switch 2 in Japan, so the product forms and regional arrangements for these corresponding models remain to be confirmed.
